The Georgia AIDS Coalition
is a not-for-profit Georgia corporation
created in 1989 to act as an education resource for the
formation and articulation of public policy regarding HIV
infection. GAC is the only Georgia organization fully devoted
to this purpose.

Prevention Conference. This report discusses the status of HIV
Prevention in the United States, how HIV Prevention works and which
factors will determine the future course of the U.S. HIV epidemic.
The report also highlights the estimated number of new HIV
infections and persons living with AIDS and the estimated number of

Medicare Open Enrollment Through December 31
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is
encouraging Medicare beneficiaries to take advantage of the
annual Open Enrollment period to make sure they have the
best coverage available to meet their healthcare needs in
2010. The Open Enrollment period begins on November 15th and
runs through December 31st. It’s the one time every year
when all people with Medicare can review and, if necessary,
change their current health care coverage.
HIV Screening Tests Proposed to Be Added to Medicare's List
of Covered Preventive Services
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) today
announced a new proposal that would cover Human
Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection screening for
Medicare beneficiaries who are at increased risk for the
infection, including women who are pregnant and Medicare
beneficiaries of any age who voluntarily request the
service.
